Impact
Growing opportunities through relationships, resources, and trusted community partners by helping people move from discovering what’s possible to taking meaningful next steps — and eventually opening doors for someone else.
Expanding the Capacity of Community Leaders
Strong community organizations need more than a powerful mission. They also need the space, relationships and practical resources that allow their work to grow.
Through the Just One Voice Scholarship Program, qualifying organizations receive a one-year membership to Palette Northshore, a professional coworking and entrepreneurial community in Covington. Palette gives members access to workspace, professional networks and resources related to mentorship, funding, technical assistance and collaboration.
By connecting nonprofit leaders with this supportive environment, Just One Voice is investing in the organizations behind the programs—not only the programs themselves. Leaders gain a place to plan, build relationships and discover opportunities that can strengthen their capacity to serve their communities.
The partnership reflects a shared belief that meaningful change grows through connection. When community leaders have access to the right people, tools and spaces, they are better positioned to develop sustainable organizations and expand their impact.
Beyond the Game: Building Character Through Community
For the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals, football is more than a game. It is a starting point for personal responsibility, community involvement and the development of skills that extend far beyond the field.
Founded in 2016, the Cardinals provide guidance and opportunities for adult athletes while supporting community outreach throughout St. Tammany Parish. Through the Cardinals Care program, players complete at least 10 hours of community service in place of the participation fees commonly charged by other teams. Many players continue serving beyond that requirement.
As a recipient of the Just One Voice Scholarship in partnership with Palette Northshore, Executive Director Gerrin Narcisse and the Cardinals gain access to a professional community where they can strengthen relationships, connect with resources and continue developing the organization.
Together, Just One Voice, Palette Northshore and the Bayou Lacombe Cardinals are helping athletes recognize that belonging to a team also means taking responsibility for the community around them.
Helping New Roots Grow Stronger
Moving to a new country can mean navigating an unfamiliar language, culture and system while trying to find stability and a sense of belonging. Raíces Nuevas was created to ensure Garifuna youth and families do not have to navigate that transition alone.
Founded by Julio Bermudez, Raíces Nuevas supports Garifuna youth ages 10–21 by connecting them with essential resources, cultural community and practical guidance. The organization addresses challenges such as language barriers, isolation and limited access to support while helping young people maintain pride in their cultural identity.
Julio became the first recipient of the Just One Voice Scholarship, awarded in partnership with Palette Northshore. The one-year membership provides access to a professional workspace, community connections and resources that can support Raíces Nuevas as it grows and expands its reach.
By investing in Julio’s leadership, Just One Voice is helping strengthen an organization built from lived experience—one that gives young people the tools, relationships and confidence to build fulfilling lives in their new communities.
Judy’s Gift: Celebrating the People Who Strengthen Community
Some of the most meaningful contributions to a community are not measured by job titles, recognition or public achievements. They are found in everyday acts of kindness, generosity and care.
Judy’s Gift is a philanthropic initiative created by Just One Voice to honor individuals whose presence has made a lasting difference in the lives of the people around them. Named after its first recipient, the initiative celebrates a neighbor remembered for her generosity, kindness and genuine spirit of connection.
Rather than defining recipients by the difficulties they may be experiencing, Judy’s Gift recognizes them for who they are and what they have given to their community. It offers support rooted in dignity and gratitude—reminding us that receiving help does not diminish the ways a person has already helped others.
Through Judy’s Gift, Just One Voice invites the community to notice the people who quietly make their neighborhoods stronger and to ensure their contributions are seen, celebrated and returned.
From the Field to the Future
At The 18th Ward, sports create an entry point to something larger: confidence, leadership, employment and community connection.
The New Orleans nonprofit provides affordable sports and workforce-development programming for young people and families across the city. Its programs serve participants from early childhood through age 24, while its workforce-development pathway connects young people ages 14–24 with paid coaching positions, leadership training and real-world job experience.
The organization reported that its Spring 2026 programming placed 4,721 children on team rosters and created 175 part-time jobs for young people across 45 programs and 23 locations.
Just One Voice supports this work by helping extend the pathway beyond participation—connecting young people and families with educational resources, professional relationships and tools that can support college, employment and long-term growth.
Together, the organizations are helping ensure that the lessons learned through sports can become building blocks for life beyond the field.
Where Mentorship Meets Opportunity
Young people cannot pursue opportunities they have never been shown. Exposure to mentors, workplaces and new career possibilities can expand not only what a young person knows, but what they believe is possible for their future.
Black Man Rising was created by Black men who transformed their shared experiences into a movement centered on mentorship, leadership and access to resources. Its work has included mentoring young Black men and helping youth take the first steps toward defining and pursuing their own vision of success.
Through its partnership with Black Man Rising, Just One Voice helps expand professional exposure by connecting participants with CEOs, industry leaders and mentors who can offer practical career insight and authentic guidance. The collaboration combines culturally grounded mentorship with leadership development and access to professional environments.
These relationships can turn an unfamiliar career into a visible pathway and an abstract ambition into a tangible next step. Together, Just One Voice and Black Man Rising are helping young men build confidence, strengthen their identities and recognize their ability to lead.
Building a Brighter Future Through Robotics
Inside the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center, robotics is giving young people an opportunity to learn through experimentation. Participants write code, operate robots, encounter problems and make adjustments until their ideas begin to work.
The program is facilitated through a collaboration involving NorthShore Robotics, the detention center and Just One Voice. NorthShore Robotics teaches programming, design, troubleshooting and the engineering process through hands-on STEAM education. At the detention center, participants use VEX robotics technology to develop coding, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Just One Voice helps extend the program’s impact beyond the robotics lessons. Its role includes connecting participants with educational resources, professional pathways and practical support for goals such as continuing their education and obtaining driver’s licenses following release.
Together, the partners are creating a learning environment where mistakes become part of the process rather than the end of the story. Every challenge offers another opportunity to think critically, try again and begin imagining a more productive future.
